CPVC pipes & fittings
What is a CPVC pipe used for?
CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) pipes are used for hot and cold potable water plumbing in homes, hotels, hospitals and commercial buildings, and for some industrial process lines.
What is the difference between CPVC and UPVC?
Both are rigid, corrosion-free and solvent-cement jointed. CPVC is made for hot-and-cold water systems, while UPVC is intended for cold water, agriculture and general pressure lines.
How are CPVC pipes joined?
With solvent cement made for CPVC and matching fittings. Brass-threaded adaptors are used to connect to taps, mixers and metal pipework.
What CPVC fittings do you make?
Elbows, tees, couplers, reducers, unions, end caps and brass-threaded adaptors, matched to CANTER CPVC pipes.
What sizes and colours do CANTER CPVC pipes come in?
Sizes run from 15 mm to 200 mm: small-bore plumbing pipe (15-50 mm) in SDR 11 and SDR 13.5, and large-bore industrial pipe (65-200 mm) in Schedule 40 and 80. Pipes and fittings are tan, the usual CPVC colour in India, with a stripe that shows the class.
UPVC pipes & fittings
What are UPVC pipes used for?
Cold potable water supply, irrigation and agricultural lines, utility lines and general-purpose pressure piping.
Can UPVC pipes carry hot water?
No. UPVC is meant for cold water. For hot-and-cold plumbing use CPVC pipes.
Which fittings are used with UPVC pipes?
Couplers, elbows, tees, reducers, threaded adaptors and ball valves, joined with solvent cement.
What sizes and colour do CANTER UPVC pipes come in?
UPVC pressure pipes are made from 20 mm up to 200 mm in pressure classes from 2.5 to 10 kgf/cm², in light grey - the usual colour for UPVC pressure pipe in India.
SWR drainage & vent pipes
What does SWR stand for?
Soil, waste and rainwater. SWR pipes carry used water, sewage and storm water away from buildings.
What is the difference between self-fit and ring-fit?
Self-fit pipes are joined with solvent cement. Ring-fit pipes use a rubber sealing ring in the socket, which allows for thermal movement and quick assembly.
Can SWR pipes be used for water supply?
No. SWR pipes are made for gravity-flow drainage. For pressurised water supply use UPVC or CPVC pressure pipes.
Electrical conduit
What do LMS, MMS and HMS mean?
They are light, medium and heavy mechanical-stress classes of rigid PVC conduit. The higher the class, the thicker the wall and the more crushing and impact load the conduit can take.
Which conduit class should I use?
LMS for surface wiring and false ceilings, MMS for concealed wiring in walls, and HMS for RCC slabs, underground runs and industrial floors.
What sizes of conduit are available?
Standard nominal sizes are 20, 25, 32, 40 and 50 mm in 3 m lengths. Contact us if you need other sizes.
Do you make conduit fittings and junction boxes?
Yes - bends, couplers, tees, saddles, brass adapters and circular junction boxes to go with our rigid conduit.
